Tues Aug 8, 2000 -
It was great, we talked till the wee small hours about the usual crap, sex, life, work, MEN, you know just the usual stuff that us girlies comment on when we've had a few drinkies and partied quite a bit...it was great!!
Felt a bit fluffy this morning after last night, but made my way back down to the beach, towel and book in hand. Actually I've paused reading "The Sunburned Country" for a while, no real reason, I'm just a bit tired of it. The trouble is though is that the book situation at the house is very limited and I found one that someone had left a book called, wait for it: "Of Love and Shadows" by Isabel Allende, which apparently people is now a powerful film, which must be true because there's a picture of Antonio Banderas and some chick getting down and dirty on the front cover. No I haven't started to read it yet, couldn't bring myself to do it, maybe this afternoon. It's certainly not a brain breaking kind of read...know what I mean??
Cricket didn't make it to the beach at all today, which seems odd to me when your at the beach not to go at all. Then again she got lots of sun yesterday and wants a break. I, on the other hand am a total sun goddess and need to pep up my tan because we have Sharon and Ray's Blessing to go to this weekend, so I want to look nice and bronzed in my dress. Actually churchy things make me nervous but I'm sure it will be fun....
As I was lying on the beach this afternoon, a couple of women came and plonked themselves down quite close by. At first I was a bit annoyed as they were invading my personal space, but I soon got over that when I heard what they were chattering on about. Basically one of them is in a dead end marriage and her friend was telling her to pull out of it pronto!! Of course then her friend got very defensive, even though she had just said that the marriage was crap, but then I guess when you hear SOMEONE ELSE saying and agreeing with you, I guess it makes you a bit edgy!! Anyway it was fascinating, they both went quiet for a while and her friend apologized for criticizing the guy, but then her friend said that it was ok because basically she was right and blah blah blah.... loved it!!
This evening we went into town for dinner. We wanted to go to Matthew's but the place was packed, he even asked if we'd made reservations? HELLO?? is this Manhattan or what? Jesus. Then again these restaurants are only open a few months of the year so I guess they should pack them in when they can...
We ended up at the Mermaid after a 15 min wait, not bad. We got a great seat near the bay and watched the sun go down, it was beautiful. A big boat came by and birthed (is that what you call it?) or parked very near to where we sat. A short guy with a massive bald patch on the top of his head plus two blondes, one young and pretty and the other older and not so pretty but desperately trying to look like the younger one. They even both had the same blue faded jeans on, with a tan coloured top. They actually looked like they could of been paid for but I'm sure they weren't I mean the short balding guy was obviously such a catch with his BIG BIG BOAT!!
Ok so to all my pals out there you will be laughing at me now because yes I have been bitten quite a few times today and this evening, namely one on my fucking cheek which looks disgusting and one on the front of my neck, yeah I know, pathetic. The others are on my arms, back, thighs etc. So there you go everyone have a good old laugh, but not too much as I might die of that stupid West Nile Virus. God of all the ways to die, that would be such an embarrassing one, can you imagine the tombstone
R.I.P.
She died of a Mossie Bite......silly cow!!
OK so I've just watched re-runs of Friends and Frasier so I'm now off to bed.
