My friend J came over before with Morpheus' boogie board for the beach and his manic frenzied dog. It was good to see him, we caught up on the gossip, mainly about one of his friends JC, who constantly tells everyone bullshit stories about his life and wealth. He's harmless enough, especially with his elaborate stories but one of these days, he's going to fall from a great height and everyone's going to laugh. My mother always taught me not to lie because once you start, you then have to continue to lie to cover the first lie....confusing, but if you think about it, it's perfectly true. I can fib to people on the phone but I'm terrible at lying to anybody face to face, my forehead practically glows a bright neon LIAR LIAR on my head, I'm that bad at it......
I'm hoping to get out to the summer house this coming Thursday, for some time to myself before everyone else arrives. It was my intention to travel with a light rucksack, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen now. Roger (the owner) dropped off two long metal poles and curtains, plus wooden chopping board and some plastic mixing bowels....thanks a bunch!! What a pain, now I have to lug all this crap out there. Maybe I'll try and divide some stuff up with the weekend guests to bring....no, I can't do that, it's rude. Although I could ask Kiwi boy as he is PART of the house share.
Tonight we went for dinner with some friends of ours (who shall remain nameless because of my pathetic husband and Kiwi boy panicking) at Malatesta (not sure of the spelling), which is on Christopher and Washington. It's a cute little italian restaurant owned by 4 friends, I had tuna steak which was cooked to perfection with a side of spinach and they said salad, but I'm afraid that consisted of a few pieces of radicchio and that was it. No matter though, it was still delicious. L had recommended their homemade Gnocchi, but considering that she's about a size 2, and I am most certainly not a size 2, I passed and had the fish instead. Eventually Mopheus turned up, late and stressed but ok considering the enormously crappy day he'd had at work. It was mentioned, best left.
Myself, Morpheus and one of our friends (the other was tired and works
a lot harder than our present friend) went to the Barrow Pub for a few
drinkies and a bit of pool playing. Shauna, my favorite bartender
was there, looking as gorgeous as ever. She's always happy and smiling,
I don't think I've EVER seen her look sad. She's so much more than
a bartender, in fact SHE IS The Barrow Street Pub. An ex-cop called
Peter owns the bar, but I think he pretty much leaves the running of the
bar to Shauna. He left around midnight last night, I think we stayed
until about 2 which was way past the time that we wanted to stay but people
kept buying us rounds of drinks, so we couldn't possibly refuse now could
we??
