Today was a wonderfully lazy day which we haven't encountered for quite some time.  We got up late, lazed around in bed for a while, then (without showering...yuck) went and had brunch at what used to be Boxers but has now changed hands, even though the interior and even the food is EXACTLY the same, apparently though IT IS different.  Anyhow after a gorgeous omelets we headed back home and slobbed around the couch all day watching the Olympics, which I normally love but this is the first time I've watched it from America.  Oh my god the American media are quite diabolical, they ONLY EVER show the Americans, even when they lose a race, they still show them and never for one moment move the camera toward the actual winner.  It's incredible, they also quickly breeze over the winners and get straight back to "what a great job our guy did", even though the schmuck never won anything....please!!

So apart from biased idiot tv people the afternoon was delightful.  I'd also been agonizing over the phone going as Buddy Weiser had wanted to play out this evening but I really wanted to just chill.  Anyway my luck was in as the phone never rang all evening...excellent.

So I wanted to get out the Madonna video "The Next Best Thing" but it was out at Kozmo, so we rented it from Urban Fetch instead along with "Deuce Bigalow", a nail clipper gift box set for Morpheus AND a variety of wines.  Well why not?  I mean if you can get everything from one site it's better isn't it?  So the messenger guy comes knocking at the door and asks Morpheus for some id with regard to the wine...fair enough we thought.  However an English passport plus driving license plus credit cards, plus INS pass ISN'T good enough.  Apparently they will only accept American passports OR a green card if your a foreigner.  Yes we will be getting Green Cards within the year but we don't have them now.  I mean ok it's THEIR policy but THEIR policy sucks.  How stupid is that, I mean you can't get a more certain identification proof than a PASSPORT now can you?  So basically we couldn't have the wine...so let me see are we going to use Urban Fetch again?

Stupid business, stupid policies, very very annoying.

So we ordered our wine from another store, laid out the cheeses and pate's and settled in.  We firstly put on "The Next Best Thing" which I must say was rather disappointing.  Rupert Everett was brilliantly, he's funny, charming, smart...in fact I'm sure he ad libbed a lot of his lines with his own witty comments.  The man is naturally funny, you can see why EVERYONE loves him.  Now I'm not sure if you know this but I'm a Madonna freak, I just love the woman, think she's dead sexy and would die for her hard body.  HOWEVER she really needs to stick to singing and being rude to people because she certainly cannot act.  And what's with the English accent in this film, why didn't the director tell her to "cut it out", I mean it sounds ridiculous.  I remember when everyone was going on about her phony English accent and not really noticing anything, but in this film it's outrageously embarrassing for HER.  Even when she's supposed to be mad or upset in a scene she just looks like she's going to burst out laughing, it's crazy....

Anyway the film does get a bit serious later on but it's a bit too little too late really to make me change my view on what is quite a silly film...

Now "Deuce Bigalow" IS a funny movie, really stupid in parts, but then I think it's supposed to be.  Not really the sort of film that needs to be talked about much as it's a no-brainer, just fun entertainment, but not necessarily for the kids!!

So that was it really no big heavy night out in the city, just nice and quiet, myself and hubby.
