Mon Jan 1, 2001 - wow, Space Odyssey reruns or what???

OK so it's a shame that Stanley Kubrick never got to be around for his famous movie, but I'm sure it will be the biggest movie rental, new opening bar theme tune, souvenirs, more films based on the original blah blah blah.....  It's going to be a Space Odyssey year I think.

So Happy New Year everyone, jesus it's so weird being here and not being at home pissed up on champagne and crying at the tv when I see Big Ben strike 12.

We had a great night last night, went to "Little Saint", well of course we did, I have to see my mate for New Year.  We got there pretty early though, around 8:30 I guess, so by the time midnight came we were well sloshed.

It was a relatively quiet affair, the couple from Canada, Ryan and Debbie were in, they had dinner, went off for drinks somewhere else and returned just before midnight.  I told Santino that he should do a countdown from 10 but that didn't seem to please him, so instead we put on the Spanish radio and listened to that countdown instead.  It was funny because I was the one that insisted on the traditional countdown and everyone be on the ready with champagne but I missed the actual turn of midnight because I was too busy gabbing to Debbie....typical!!

There was a bunch of Australian girls who were a laugh, they were off to a beach rave after the restaurnat.  They want us to go with them, it was very tempting but I didn't fancy being stuck out in the middle of nowhere off my trolley with a bunch of Cabana freaks.  Anyway Santino didn't like the sound of the idea and so we decided to stay with him instead.  God listen to me, I'm getting seriously boring in my old age.

It's funny as I couldn't help thinking a lot about my mate Kiwi Boy tonight as he will now probably be a dad....crikey, heavy shit or what??

So basically we stayed in Santino's restaurant, drank lots of relatively crappy champagne and lovely jubbly Tequila and got back to the Jungla Hotel around 2:30 which is extremely early for New Year's eve.

TODAY
We checked out of our Tree Top home which was good as we've both had enough of the place.  This time we dragged our cases back to the Blue Parrot by ourselves which was awkward but not that big of a deal.  My gripe now is that they've put at the back of the Blue Parrot (street end) on the ground floor.  This has completely pissed me off as I've feel like we've been shoved in the worst apartment, which it is.  Also there's a heavy duty grinding noise that comes every 10 minutes and lasts for about 2 minutes and ends with a big clank.  What the fuck that is I'll never know but I want out of this friggin room pronto!!

We didn't do much today as the sky was gray and so we just wandered the streets and then came back for a sleep in our very nosiy clanky room.  We've already talked to the guy at the desk and he has promised to TRY and get us a different room tomorrow.

Tonight we went to "Limones" restaurant for dinner which was delightful.  I got very jealous by a Spanish couple next to us that had there very own caesar salad dressed and prepared for them right at their table.  I absolutely adore Caesar salad, its my favorite so I was gutted when I saw the waiter doing that, it looked delicious as well.

I had grilled asparagus to start which was very tasty and surf 'n turf for my main which was good but not brilliant.  Morpheus had a delicious traditional Yucatean chicken and lime soup which was great and then sirloin steak.  For dessert I had crepes suzette which is really bad because I am getting heavier by the minute.

When I get back to New York I am going to stop smoking and get this body back into some kind of decent looking shape.  Don't get me wrong I'm not fat but I'm definitely getting heavier by the day.

We didn't go and see Santino afterwards as we were too shagged from last night.
