Sat Aug 24, 2002 -
So last night was a party at Gidi and Arnold's place down on 88th Greenwich Street, in honor of Sharon and Ray who are over from Geneva. It was a great party but it was right down by Ground Zero and most of the evening was spent on the 24th floor on their outdoor deck which overlooked the site. God it was really eerie, but I made a point of going over, taking a good luck and then just walking away. Not something to dwell, especially at a good party.
There was some seriously funny people at this party, especially my fab gay guys that I befriended, who all wore leather pants and lots of jewellery.
Actually I spent most of the evening talking to these guys, which was silly really because there were lots of other people to chat to. Actually the outdoor deck is a shared on and inside is like a dorm room with leather wide couches, a huge tv and a pool table. And yes most of the other people there were young studenty types, so clearly this building is being rented out dead cheaply and these are the sort of people it attracts. I'm wondering if Gidi and Arnold are happy about this, I mean these guys aren't exactly spring chickens anymore, but they are truly adorable. I spent most of the latter part of the evening sprawled on Arnold's lab listening to Puccini's Tosca with him, much to the absolute bore of everybody else, but we enjoyed it.
It was fun, good people, great party, we're also supposed to be going to Silvina's party tonight but it's sooo NOT going to happen. I can't do two parties in a row, don't care if the others can, they certainly don't party as hard as Morpheus and I do.
So tonight Morpheus cooked duck which was fantastic and I made fabulous potatoes dauphinoise which are extremely naughty but absolutely delicious.
We also rented out "Queen of the Damned" and "Birthday Girl". The first film is surprisingly entertaining when your at home, with hangover, relaxing while it's raining outside. The other film is actually a very good film with Nicole Kidman and Ben Chaplin. I can't be bothered telling you the plot, but it's good, you should see it.
It was definitely a great day today when your not feeling in the mood to do anything, because that's exactly what we did. Oh yeah I watched "The Plaza Suite" this afternoon. What a great film, all set in the Plaza Suite, actually room 719, with 3 different stories but all with Walthau Matthau as the main character. A original play by Neil Simon and directed by Arthur Miller, so clearly it's going to be good.
