So the train journey is long but you know it's fine, we were in Business Class so the seats were really comfy and the views were incredible.
Ok this isn't the best shot I've ever taken but come on the train was moving.
So we read and ate (lots of bad train food), oh yeah you get free coffee and water if you travel Business Class which is pretty good. And chatted and got excited, of course then Morpheus fell asleep like he always does when he's in one position for more than 30 minutes.
The resort is about 30 minutes drive from Rutland Station. Our cab man was called Jeff and he was a blast. He told us all the hotspots to go, what trails to take, what restaurants to eat in (see tomorrow's page) and lots of other tips and suggestions for our weekend, he's was a real sweetie, so of course this meant that Morpheus tipped him MASSIVELY which is what he always does when someone's nice, he's such a sucker my husband, but a very generous one.
So we arrived about 1 and to my utter annoyance found that our room wasn't ready and that it might not be until 5:30....what the fuck??? I just hated this "Melanie behind the desk girl" immediately and huffed and puffed until she made the call to housekeeping. After the call she said that it would probably be alright to check-in at 2:30, yeah whatever bitch, where's the restuarant.
You see even though Killington Grand is one of the best ski hotels in Killington the service is still crap, I remember that from last time I mean they make you CHECK-OUT at 10:30 and WILL NOT give you a late check-out but checking in, you have to wait sometimes until 5:30, I mean what's that all about? It's ridiculous.
So anyway we picked up a ski trail map and plonked ourselves in the restaurant where I must say a very nice waitress brought me an ice-cold Corona, which was fab, and the official beginning of my weekend vacation.
Of course I was still trying to keep within my Weight Watcher parameters so I just ordered some lovely mushroom soup followed by a Caesar salad. Morpheus on the other hand decided that it was Desperate Dan time and went nuts with his order, look what he got, big fat bloater.
I meant to get a pic of our room but to be honest it wasn't anything special. It was big, with two Queen sized beds in but there was no space to put keys, wallets, books or anything, no table, even though they do room-service which I thought was weird. So anyway we quickly unpacked then took a walk to check-out the ski shop and maybe buy some new hats or gloves. Alas the shop was full of skanky crap so we didn't bothered, however Morpheus did try on a black ski mask that covers from under your chin up over your nose and makes you look like Hannibal Lecter in that mask he wears but to be honest because of Morpheus's colour it made him just look like somebody who was about to rob the place and kidnap a small child...very scary and not cool.
So tonight we were exhausted and decided to stay in our room and watch all of the fab movies that we've got. So tonight we watched "Shallow Hal" and "Training day", two very very good movies. It's was bizarre to see Denzel playing such a bad motherfucker and Ethan playing for the most part a real dork. OK I can see why "Shallow Hal" caused so much controversy because it real does take the piss out of fat people, actually ugly or disabled people in general really. I mean there was skinny women that we real ugly looking and then there was this spina bifida guy who just crawled round everywhere which was kinda creep and then there was Gywneth in her fat suit, looking, well, fat as fuck to be honest. I enjoyed it, thought it was a laugh.
So I'm sorry to disappoint y'all with our very unexciting day but we were shagged people, really wiped out from the early morning and train journy. Well it's best to do little today and then be fresh and at it first thing.
Ok so getting up this morning was pretty horrible, especially as we had lots of champagne last night because we were excited about this trip AND we were celebrating Valentines.
However he did wake when I took this shot, but not for long.
I mean look at the size of those ribs, my god, of course I had to have a little bite of his which was ok, bit gloopy on the sauce side, but I've tasted worse.
