So yes this would be me with my snow blades on standing in the snow. It's came down quite heavy today but enough to prevent us from skiing. It was great, we had such a laugh. I did feel a bit stuffy this morning and my throat was scratchy but there was absolutely NO WAY I was going to let this prevent me from getting a good day's skiing in.

There is definitely something fabulous about owning your own skis and boots as this saves SO MUCH time when usually you'd have to line up with 20 other people waiting to be fitted for boots and skis...I HATE THAT.

Ok so the trails are pretty good, the snow is nice and packed after a snow falling the other night and we are in fine spirits. Of course Morpheus keeps zooming past me as he's much faster than me but you know I like to chill and ski down at my own pace checking out the scenery and the beauty of all this snow on the trees.

So we started around 9:30 this morning which isn't very early for skiing but you know we were up at 8 and that's how long it took us to get our shit together. Well it was more Morpheus to be honest as he always takes forever to get ready but that's ok, no rush. So the ski lifts were pretty quick, and I mananged to disembark quite well at the top which isn't usually the case on my first run as I always seem to lose it and fall like an idiot.

I fell twice today, once of my own stupidity and lack of concentration and the other by a stupid mistake and the fact that my skis headed into a mound of very fluffy snow so they just stopped and my body carried on ahead....bang, crash, bloody wallop.

There were loads and loads of Borders, some serious boarding to which was kind of cool. We stopped for lunch which was a bread bowl of chilli which is you haven't had I suggest you do because it's scrumptious. It was my pal Carl Reed who first introduced me to it, in Killington actually when I first learned to ski over 3 years ago. I couldn't decide what to eat and saw him approach with what looked like a large piece of round, dome shaped bread with the top sliced off and filled with chilli...wow, what the hell was that I thought? Anyway I quickly got addicted to it and let me tell you after skiing it's the perfect thing to eat.

We only had 30 minutes for lunch and then Morpheus took a shot of me at the top of Killington Peak before we skied down.  We stopped around 3ish, completely knackered but feeling great.

I decided to have a 30 minute massage which after skiing is definitely the thing to do, it was perfect and I fell right to sleep. I was hoping that Morpheus would also get a massage but they make him a bit nervous so I left him upstairs playing Super Mario on the tv.

So before we went out for dinner tonight we went downstairs to the hotel bar, which wasn't exactly packed but they're was crap EVERYWHERE, you know dirty plates, loads of glasses everywhere, just a mess really. Anyway after finally getting served a drink and then being completely knocked down about the smoking even though they had matches, we settled down to our drinks. Now the waitress seemed nice enough, if not a bit hassled but she clearly isn't too smart. In fact Morpheus nicknamed her "stiff me" waitress. Why? well let me enlighten you. You know how you order a drink and they give you back your change, which generally consists of lots of ones because they want a tip, well this little lady after taking our $20 bill, returned with a $10 bill and 25 cents.....dhhhhhhhh!! So we're like, "excuse me, can we have some change?" I mean does she not want a tip or what? I mean I know this isn't New York and clearly the bar tenders aren't as bolshy as they are in the big city but are these fucking demented or what? I mean they heard our accents so either presumed we'd flown ALL THE WAY from England to ski here or that we were probably from the city, so HEELLOOO, take advantage you dozy woman.

It just made us giggle that's all.

So tonight we made reservations at Hemingways Restaurant, not far from our resort. It was recommended to us by Jeff (cab driver) and also it's named one of the top 50 restaurants in the States, so like the usual princess I am, I insisted on going there, much I think to the annoyance of Morpheus but he soon warmed up when he saw the place.

It's a beautiful old converted house, quite small when you first walk in but then it stretches out towards the back quite far. We sat at the bar and had a drink as our table wasn't quite ready. Eventually this very nice lady showed us towards the kitchen and down these stairs. At first I panicked and thought we were being shoved to the basement section with all the crappy tables but how wrong could I of been. The basement is where they keep their wine cellar and the actual room is the most romantic room I've ever seen. They're were only 4 other tables, appropriately placed so that you didn't hear the full conversation of anyone else. I was loving it and was dying to taste their fare (is that right???). You should check out the restaurant link as you can see for yourself the wine tasting menu which is what we chose, it was superb, clearly the best I've ever eated, the cheese souffle was sexy, plus the Alsace wine with it was just a perfect combination, I knew this because Alsace is usually not my favorite wine. The angus beef was done to perfection and again the wine complimented it perfectly. God this was great, just great service, great food and wine, loving it. As you can see from the picture, the wine cellar is behind us, very exciting, in fact I brought back a souvenir recipe menu to show "nameless" as I know he'll appreciate it.

So after dinner we retired to the lounge to finish off our tawny port which was delicious and waited for our cab. When he arrived we had actually ordered another port each so the owners wife, by the way the owner is Ted, I know this because I met him and thanked for the best food EVER. Anyway she poured our port into two plastic beakers so that we could drink it on the way back to Killington, how fab is that? Of course I made Jeff (cab man) drive to the store to get me some smokes (hadn't smoked since Thursday night) and then we went to Cascades, a bar very near to our own resort. It was ok, we bumped into some people that we'd shared a cab with, had a laugh, drank a lot more and then finally staggered home around 3:30.

The best was most definitely the restuarant, it was just fabulous and I would recommend it to everyone, yes a bit pricey but well worth it.
