By the way I'm hearing all this from BBC.CO.UK on Radio 1. Don't you just love the whole radio and computer thing? It's so cool.
Well the Taliban and Al-Qaida detainees are probably here by now, they were supposed to be landing at the U.S. Navy Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba sometime today.
Apparently they're won't be ANY pictures of the prisoners, the reason being is that the Geneva Convention says prisoners of war must be protected against insults and public curiosity. I'm a little confused though, I thought you were only considered a prisoner of war through the Geneva Convention if you were in a military uniform and I don't think Kaftan's come into being a uniform do you??? Yes ok I'm quibbling, but still.
Also the human rights group Amnesty are concerned about the treatment of the prisoners and the size of their cells which are about 6 feet by 8 feet. The U.S. officials have replied that the prisoners are being treated humanely (believe it or not) and that their living conditions are better than in Afghanistan where many were hiding in caves. (I guess they have a point there).
By the way I'm not reporting this to put any particular point across, I just thought I would let y'all know what was happening if you hadn't already read it.
So as you can see by the heading it's my pals birthday, well it was yesterday anyway. He's really bad at reminding us that it's his birthday but then I guess we should make a note of it ourselves.
He went to the Opera last night with his girlfriend for his birthday which is very fabulous and civilised. The day before he'd had a lovely surprise for his birthday (a day early)but I can't really go into that or I'm in big trouble (however it did involve bubbles and candles...oooops, said too much). Tonight we're taking him out for dinner, don't know where yet as he hasn't gotten back to me with a restaurant request and there is way too many restaurant in this city to choose from, so I'm hoping he comes up with one soon.
So that's our evening planned, and I desperately need to go out and find a new top as I have absolutely fuck all to wear tonight and I've just about had enough of my tawdry crappy wardrobe, it really does need a re-vamp. So that's what I'm going to do, work on the theatre site a bit more, hit the gym, then shit, shave, shampoo and go shopping for something fab to wear tonight.
This coming Monday the shooting of the 20th James Bond movie begins. It is estimated to go beyond the $70 million budget. I LOVE James Bond movies, always have done, it was always me and my dad that used to go and watch them at the movies, then re-watch them endlessly on video. Halley Berry is the new Bond girl but contrary to what the papers says she DOESN'T get her tits out in this movie. It's a PG for christ sake, they've NEVER shown a full frontal shot before. Come on people keep it real. It's due out this November, so get ready.
