So today we were full of spirits and decided to put our energy to good use. Yeah I know what your thinking but that happened yesterday thank you very bloody much.
The gym was busy, everyone else trying desperately to get back into some kind of shape before the winter ends (like that's going to happen for a while...). There were lots of people we didn't know, apart from a few who I know but Morpheus doesn't, so they kept gawking at him, which was kinda funny.
So this afternoon we went to see the absolutely brilliant and marvellous "Royal Tenenbaums", if you haven't seen it then please, go, it's a must.
When we got there Mary Anne had already sorted out a row of seats for us right up at the top, jesus I was just glad I had remembered my glasses or there would of been NO WAY that I could of seen that screen. Also people were having nose bleeds around us so maybe we were a bit high....ha!!
Hermes and Aphrodite were there and had very kindly got me popcorn WITHOUT BUTTER...hurray, I hate butter on my popcorn.
So what can I say about this movie, I guess it's supposed to be Dark Comedy, and I guess it can be rather odd but in such a brilliant way. My favorite thing I think was the focus on each character, direct, straight in their faces, you didn't miss any frown, smile, quizzical look, it was all there, all the time. My favorite character was Gene Hackman who played Royal Tenenbaum, he was just brilliant, absolutely amazing. My favorite part was when Royal is critiquing his daughters (Gwyneth Paltrow) play, even though she is only 12 and is a genius, he still thinks it's lacking someway, it's just dead funny and really clever.
I'm especially proud of this film because my boss Doug Aibel casted it and because it is so good it was easy for me to be proud. In fact Doug also cast the new Mel Gibson film "Signs" which is directed by the same guy that did "Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable" but I can't remember his name. So there you go our Doug does some good stuff.
I made everyone wait after the end until Doug's name came up on the credits...yeah I know, sad.
So afterwards we got the subway up to Astoria and went to a greek restaurant that Aphrodite and Hermes know called "Uncle George's" which to be honest is one of a million "Uncle George's" in New York but I gather they're all by very different people.
The food as ever with Greek food was delicious, although Professor was moaning that there wasn't any Pita bread until Aphrodite informed him that there never is at proper Greek restaurants...well oooh eerrr that told him.
Of course he ordered tripe soup, only Professor would do that, I swear he does it just to gross everyone else out. Actually no that's not true he genuinely likes weird food...freak!!
I re-told my fab story from last week which got a look of complete disbelief from Aphrodite who just couldn't believe it, it really is the best story I've ever heard. Actually to my dear friend who told my husband this amazing tale, I can't find your email and there's no way he will give it to me so go on email me and fill me in on the rest, if you know of course.
So that was it, we ate, we drank, we laughed and just generally had fun like we always do.
Oh yeah before I forget there was this guy on the subway station who was having a seizure. When we got there everyone else was just staring at him and not doing anything. Anyway immediately Aphrodite got on her cell phone and called the emergency services and Professor (so kind) took his coat off and laid it over the guy who was by now shivering. It's funny I was kinda thinking of doing the coat thing myself but my is a long plastic mac so I guess it wouldn't of really done much good. The E.S. came and by this time the guy was speaking but then he got all shitty and said that he "didn't wanna go to no fucking hospital", which I guess was kind of rude, especially as it was directed to the people who were TRYING to help him. Apparently he was on medication, had taken it but had collapsed. I reckon he had been drinking as well and somehow that had affected his medication which made him keel over. Well I'm sure they sorted him out, or else he got up and bolted, either way good for Aphrodite and Professor to be such good citizens while the rest of us lemons just stood and watched.
A great Sunday.....
So today me and Morpheus went to the gym. Yeah I know, on a Sunday, fucking unbelievable. But hey we'd spent a lovely day together on Saturday, him messing with our new computer and me watching the original "Ocean's 11" with the gorgeous Martin, Sinatra and Lawford. It had been a great day.
