A transformer in Con Edison blew around 1ish and that was it, all power gone, caput, nada.
Morpheus had gone upstairs, clearly didn't want to hang around in bed, so he was up and raring to go. I had some pages to do, so told him to save me a lounger and that I would join him in a bit. Anyhow after about 30 minutes he calls to see if there's been any announcements on the news because there was billowing black smoke over on the East Side. Nothing had been reported, but after about 10 minutes, and thank god AFTER my pages had already been downloaded, everything blinked off.
No tv, computer, lights, nothing....complete blackout.
So I managed to walk downstairs to the foyer where lots of questions were being put to our Super, Sheik, but it's really not like he knows anymore than we do. So I decide I'd rather be where Morpheus is and walked 10 FLIGHTS up to the roofdeck, where we just sat and sunbathed. Well, what else could we do? There's no electricity, so we might as well enjoy it.
Later on Mary Anne and Professor rang saying that we could stay at Aphrodites and Hermes because they were away, so we all agreed on that plan.
One of the other owners of "Slims" decided that he could bring a generator in for the fridge, a/c and music, so Professor had to work. So that just left myself, Mary Anne and Morpheus to cab it over to the East Side and then walk over to "Craft Bar" for some dinner. Oh I should explain, it didn't affect the East Side, in fact the only areas it did affect were the West Village, that would be us and over on Stuyvesant I think, so everywhere else was ticking along nicely. "Craft Bar" is kind of cool and we did have a good evening, although there was a creepy guy with a notepad that COULD NOT keep his eyes off Mary Anne, freak.
After we got back to Aphrodites we found out that 15 minutes after we had left the West Village, the electricity had been resumed, so the trip over had really been a waste of time, but to be honest I was kind of glad, I felt a bit awkward taking over Aphrodite's flat. So we made good use of the rest of the hour and sat drinking Aphrodite's and Hermes wine...well they said we could!!
So that was all very exciting.
So today we went to initially look at an Open House downtown but realised that it was too hot to be walking that far, so we had row, I stormed off and eventually we caught up with each other, three blocks up. He hates me, I hate him, no we don't but we DO drive each other nuts and this weekend has been no exception. We went and had breakfast at Petite Albeille and then decided to go for a walk to get him some flip flops that he's decided he HAS TO HAVE.
On the way we nipped into "Amalgamated" which is a funky furniture store towards Greenwich Avenue. It was having a sale and so we managed to get a great long bench which is now sitting alongside my desk and looks fab. We also got some snakeskin pillows for the couches and another vase for my collection.
Actually yesterday we had successfully gotten some stuff from Bed, Bath & Beyond and it was delivered by this afternoon. The package included a white slipcover for our love-seat. I'm looking at it now and just can't decide whether it looks ok or not. It's pretty creased so I'm going to get that anti-crease spray for it tomorrow and see if it looks any better, BEFORE we order the other slip-cover for the couch. I do think though as it's getting darker here that it looks better than the nasty black matte leather shite we have opposite.
So I'm by myself tonight, Morpheus is off round at Professor's who is throwing a boys evening while Mary Anne is in L.A. He did ask me to go but then I found out that wanker John Cardillo was going to be there so point blank refused. This of course hasn't stopped Morpheus going, not that I'm bothered, it hasn't exactly been a successful weekend for us, we've spent most of it snapping at each other, so his time with the boys will be well spent I'm sure.
Ok gotta go and order some chinese, then it's "Sex and the City" time....FAB!!
