I was hoping to be working this coming weekend at the club, and for 5 minutes I thought I was, but one of the promoters cancelled his gig, so alas no, which sucks, because I like it there, it's fun to hang out with the staff AND get paid for it. Ah well, never mind.
So yesterday evening I went to the gym, met up Tracy and Doug who I now think I should call Cheech and Chong, not cos they're big weed smokers, but because they're fucking nutters the pair of them and quite frankly could both be stoned on a regular basis. Well they never hear what your saying, or they think they do and say something completely different. Or they just giggle and go on with themselves, yeah, much like stoners, so from hear on out, they're Cheech and Chong.
OK so anyway last night it was the Washington Square Music Festival in...you guess it, Washington Square Park, so I met up with Doug and Tracy after wolfing down a plate of Sushi from Gourmet Garage whilst in the shower, yeah I was rushed.
Honestly it was great, we got there around 8:45, I think it was over by 9:45 by the latest. We managed to hear three piece, one of them an Aria called The Caress, next were a compilation of Fado Songs which is basically Portuguese blues music which was pretty good, especially the girl on vocals, she was incredible. They played another couple of pieces which had a bit of Bach and Vivaldi thrown in and then they were done. It was really good and a lovely way to spend a free hour in the park. It was funny because they're were a lot of barricades around, so most people were stood behind them, NOT realising that they could sit and watch the show for free. So when the three of us turned up and Tracy stormed up the steps and sat down, it caused quite a stir. They still didn't move though, guess they thought they had a pretty good spot where they were.
So yeah that was fun, I love string ensembles, so listening TO the violin, viola, cello and double bass was a bit of a thrill for me.
So after that we came back to the apartment as Doug hasn't seen it. On the way we were stopped by a very old woman who had lost her bearings and needed to get back to Bleecker and Grove Street, so we walked back most of the way with her, she was very sweet, but way too old to be out and about at that time, but I guess she REALLY wanted to see the concert. Anyway after we had pointed her in the right direction (yes we could of walked her home, but we really didn't need to go all the way) which was really just across the street from where we were, she gives us three hershey's kisses which was very sweet, but I was suspicious that they had been in the bottom of her bag for like 5 years, hanging out with those mints that always seem to get lost.
Don (Tracy's husband) joined us at the apartment and we had a good old laugh, especially at some of the antics that Tracy and Don get up to at the pool and a few of my own.
Actually we decided that we should be more like some of the stupid cows at the pool and flick our hair dramatically everytime a cute boy walks by. Trouble is Tracy has very short cropped hair, with just a little extra at the front, so I guess she could flick that, but she'd look like a bit of a spastic doing it....ha!!
So yeah they stayed till after 11, I then watched The Amazing Race, because I HAVE TO, then I went to bed. All is well. So now I'm going to take my fabulous book called Henry and Clara to the roof, which I won't get to read, because I'll be gassing with Tracy for most of the afternoon, then I'll come back here having my meeting with Sandy re: the web site, then go meet Professor and Snoopy with The Rock and Baldwin for dinner.
A good fun day for me ahead....yay!!
