Well actually Moranis put me straight, like he always does...good lad.
Apparently right now both sides are meeting at the Grand Hyatt and the news reckons that an outcome will be had today? Well let's hope so? I mean it's ridiculous, all those poor people waiting on line to purchase a ticket for hours on end in this cold, because some people think that a good wage and retiring at 55 is bad? HELLLOOOO?
I mean they earn more than nurses, postal workers AND get an early retirement, what's the problem? So now apparently the MTA proposed that they get a 6% rise, but that 4% of it went into their pension but they didn't like that? so I don't know, it's very frustrating for the MTA AND the Union but they need to resolve this situation, it's affecting the city really badly. Less shopping, no travelling, where are the homeless sleeping? shit they use the train and subway cars all the time. A lot of the shops are staying shuts as the employees can't get there, so they stay closed. And the Midtown traffic is out of control man, crazy gridlock going on there. My friend Mark said yesterday that they may do a mass firing and then bring in the armed guards or something like that to run the trains and buses. Shit I'm sure that would bring on a mass rioting....maybe not such a good thing to happen.
Anyway like I said the other day, it really doesn't affect me, or Stephen. Basically if you live in the city, then it's not really such a hassle, although Stephen went to 34th Street Mall to get Lia (Peter and Kiki's little girl for Christmas Day) a gift after work and then he had to walk all the way back downtown. Poor thing looked frozen when he walked in.......he's a gooden for doing that. But yeah I know your not feeling any sympathy at all, why should you? it's not a problem for us, except that we're all getting fitter by walking more....not a bad thing huh?
Ok so what else? oh yeah so tonight we're off out with Gloria, James, Tim and his girlfriend Tracy who is back from Liberia which is great. I haven't seen her since the Summer, so it will ge good to catch up. Gloria wants to go to a restaurant called Orchard on, you guessed it Orchard and Stanton. It's a BYOB place, so it will be relatively cheap and hopefully it won't be a mad night. It's hard with that lot, they're all crazy, I doubt if we'll be in before midnight.
OK anyway moving on to fabulous finds. I was reading the New York Times the other day regarding Google Earth, which is basically a tool that lets you view pretty much anywhere in the world from above, so you can type in your folks address and look at the top of their house from above. In some major cities like New York you can look at the buildings in 3-D which is super friggin cool. Anyway go to Google, type in Google Earth and get it downloaded, i'its brilliant, I love it. The Russians apparently are going nuts about it, well you can see all of their nuclear plans and so forth. Hee hee, fab.
Right well I'd better get my ass in gear, I'm working today but not until later, so I want to go and get a few more bits for Stephen, not sure how cold it is out there, better check New York 1?
Later people....
