Ok so Friday was relatively quiet, had a couple at Dublin 6 then came home and hung out. On Saturday Stephen layed around and I went and got my hair done at Swank which is a dead cute little hairdressers that Josh told me about over on 11th Street. Well it desperately needed trimming so I had a inch or so taken off, then I wanted Kasha to give me girly curls, because I'm not girly at all, but really wanted to look it for this wedding. Now I thought she'd using curling tongs but she used a flat iron instead and twisted my hair around so that the curls weren't all exactly the same, some were tighter, some looser, it looked great, I was dead chuffed.
And for $60 bucks in THIS CITY, that's a bargain.
We had all decided to meet up at a divy bar at 4pm to neck a few pints before the wedding. Suffolk and Houston this place was at, around the corner from the Angelo Orensanz church which was the coolest place for a wedding and reception ever.
Of course the temperature was insane on Saturday, absolutely freezing it was and there's me with my lovely skirt on with NO TIGHTS, stupid really but that was the look I needed.
Everyone in the pub looked like something out of a London gangster movie. Well most of the crowd were from London, so of course when you put all these boys in their best suits, it's definitely a Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels moment.
The wedding was a nice, short jewish ceremony, stamping of the glass and all that...FANTASTIC, I loved it.
There was a huge wrap around balcony in this old church/synagogue and now seems to look like some sort of nightclub, very cool. So yeah upstairs we all trundled to get our champagne and canapes. The canapes were little tubs of fish n crisps, tiny cottage pies, samosas, etc. it was great, dead British, such fun, although I did see a few American faces sneering at the food, hey listen it's a wedding, you can't please everyone.
Then off downstairs we went to our allocated tables, our was fun, we had Tim and Paul at ours, the crazy photographers, then Darren and his girlfriend Tina, he's one of the real wide boys from London, hysterical, but completely barking mad. Now there's me ready to tuck into whatever they bring over, I was bloody starving, but instead they put on some crappy music and Lisa and Jerry (The bride and groom) began they're dance. Then everyone else got up to dance, it was all very bizarre. I've never been to a wedding before when they play the music FIRST, before the food is served.
Anyway it was great, the food was delicious, no one ate there dessert as we were already up, dancing, gossiping, off out smoking, so that was wasted. Not sure what time they turfed us all out, we did try and get into Baramundi where Erica was working, but the place was packed, so we went to a shitty little cafe type place next door, that was serving booze, sat there for a bit, then myself and Stephen got in a cab and came home. Stayed up a while longer drinking and dancing, then went to bed.
Yesterday I woke up thinking ouch what is that annoying pain in my foot? By the time 2pm hit yesterday afternoon I was nearly in tears, can't walk, certainly can't put my foot flat down on the floor, not sure what the fuck I did, but it's definitely something. And of course tonight I was supposed to meet up with Snoopy and Aphrodite for dinner, but that's not going to happen. Listen I'm worried about walking down two blocks to go to work right now, so if they think I'm going uptown or even out to New Jersey for dinner they can think again.....not happening.
So yeah right now I'm waiting for the referral woman from my doctors to call back with a name and hopefully LOCAL person to check my foot out. Who knows what happened, but I know I didn't fall and no one stood on it, because there's no bruising..whatever.
So yeah that's about it people, it was a great wedding, and unfortunately because of this foot I didn't make Elaine's baby shower yesterday, although I have got her a gift, so I'll get that round to her this week.
K better go shower and get my shit together for work.
Later people, keep warm......
P.S. oh yeah it's the first preview tomorrow of Stephen's art auction, here's the link with full details, please either phone or come by and take a look, I'll be there. I.R.S. Auction
