Yes Darlene was very upset, she answered when I called (bugger) and apparently quite a lot of her friends had cancelled, in fact I heard yesterday off her friend Kim, that a bunch of people didn't show and hadn't even called to cancel, which I personally think is unforgivable, just rude you know. Especially when each plate is bloody well paid for. Anyway the lovely love is off now on her honeymoon with her new husband having, I'm sure a wonderful relaxing time. I wish her well and will see her for a glass of bubbly when she returns.
Ok so went for the Sonogram yesterday after a very fraught and worrying weekend and every thing is ok. In fact it's so good that Dr Margano over at St. Vincent's seemed rather annoyed that I was there at all. He wanted the name of the person who had referred me and everything. Well first of all the technician came in, she put the goop on my belly and proceeded to check over the babies measurements...fine, absolutely perfect, he is PERFECTLY PROPORTIONED...yay. So as is policy then the doctor came in, he put on more goop and really whacked this thing over my belly really fast. Not a lot of bedside manner with this guy, but he's really efficient and very professional. So he's like muttering to himself, fine, yes fine, tells me that the babies head is facing down....this is good then finally claims that everything is wonderful and NO MORE SONOGRAMS FOR ME.....he's Asian so has that very high toned pitch when he's excited or just mad busy like he actually was.
So yeah the whole thing was very assuring, especially as the little one hadn't moved much at all over the weekend and I had voiced my concerns to Coco and Sean when I saw them, and they had said not to worry, but you know how that goes, you always do don't you.
So yeah I was sorry that I had to miss Darlene's wedding, but I wanted to make sure that everything was ok with the little one, I mean really I would of been stuck upstate at a wedding, not being able to drink and getting myself all worked up over the baby....NOT GOOD.
So I'm off to work in a wee while, actually I'm trying to be quiet typing as Francesca is asleep in the other room, but we don't have walls so she can probably hear this annoying typing.....
It's great to have her here and actually last night we went out for dinner with her grandmother (Stephen's ex wife's mother) and her friend Adele who were funnily enough on their way to Scotland today to visit Bill and Agnes, Stephen's folks. Oh yeah they've all kept friendly over the years, which I think is really nice, albeit a little bizarre. So last night was my first time meeting Berniece and let's just say it was a funny kind of experience, she's not exactly the warmest woman in the world. Her friend Adele is ADORABLE, a really lovely, lively, happy lady, loads of enthusiasm and good spirits. Yeah and then there's Berniece, nah she's alright really, I was charming the pants off them, so she soon came round, but when she first walked into the apartment you should of seen the up and down look she gave me, fucking hell you could of frozen hell with that look. So what did I do? oh yeah I gave her a frosty one back....fuck it, my house, be nice lady or I'll just give it right back. Of course Adele was big hugs and smiles, so that was a load off. Anyway like I said eventually she came round and we had a good laugh at Dublin 6 where we had a very lovely dinner. Of course throughout this whole thing Francesca looked positively bored, but then again she is nearly 20, she's at that age, you know bored teenager look. Although me and her sat and commented on every tiny bit of fashion that walked by, it was fun, I love that girl.
Right well I really do have to throw on some clothes and get going. I'll come pick her up later and we'll head off to the gym then who knows, maybe meet her dad from work, if the rain holds off of course.
Later...
