As a teenager she became a concert violinist and travelled throughout Europe. Priscilla then spent more than 10 years exploring the world of opera, where her talent as a mezzo-soprano deepened her understanding of sound produced by the human voice.
Fast forward eight year, she gave birth to her son Tomas, this is when she realised her true gift. She believed that her babies cries had to mean something more than just random sounds. She noted combinations of sounds and explored various settling techniques and observed Toma’s reactions. Eventually she was able to recognize patterns, and identify how specific cries had a distinct need attached to them.
Ok so BASICALLY she can understand what a baby needs/want by it's cries, these cries are:
NEH = I'M HUNGRY.
EH = I NEED BURPING
HEH = I UNCOMFORTABLE, NEED DIAPER CHANGING
OWH = I'M TIRED
EAIR = I'M GASSY
And I'm telling you, it is AMAZING. I made Stephen watch the segment last night, so that he could listen to the various cries and understand their meanings. Now when Reef cries we know what she wants. Ok not ALWAYS, sometimes it's a little trick, but w hat you have to remember is that you MUST listen to the very beginning of the cry, not the middle or end of, the BEGINNING, that's where you will hear the NEH or EH straight away. Go to www.oprah.com and check out her show from yesterday, or go straight to www.dunstanbaby.com and see for yourself.
Then again saying that Reef has been a real little madam today, not sure what's wrong with her? recognised some of the cries, but most of them are a mishmash of all of the above I think.
Although when I burped her this morning, she did cry out EH so I continued and YES i got another burp, so you see, it's working.
Good luck new mum's, I'm going to buy this DVD for my gal pals who are expecting as I really think it can help.
Right well she's off again, I swear since 9:30 this morning my daughter has had me running around like a nutter, I can't get anything done today, even this page was typed up SUPER FAST, while she was down for 10 minutes.
Later.
