Ok so don't get mad but I blew off my breast feeding class yesterday. Well I was pretty much out the door, but then I dunno I just decided I really really wasn't in the mood, so I didn't go. Listen I spoke to Raya a little after my decision and she said it's fine. It's not like I'm not going to try and breast feed, I am and the women over at St Vincent's WILL help me, so it's gonna happen. Alright enough of that.
So Luis came by last night with one of his workers and put the windows in the baby room...yay. Actually we had no idea how much work it takes and I am truly grateful to him for this. They were here around 2.5 hours, and are coming back tonight to finish plastering where the new windows have gone and something else, but not sure what? I don't know whether the door is going on this evening, or he's gonna finish the plastering...whatever, don't care, so long as this project continues, that's all. We have to take him and Cat out for dinner for doing this, AT LEAST. I mean this guy works ALL DAY and then comes here for over 2 hours working on our son's room....so very kind of him.
So my gal pal Tara gets into town tonight. Well I think she's flying into Boston today, so she'll be back over in New York at 8:30, so she'll make her way over here as soon as she can. Well if Luis is going to be here working anyway, we may as well just wait for her. She was supposed to be here with Rob her boyfriend, but the dozy wazzock forgot his passport yesterday to get the flight to meet her, so she's a little pissed about that and Stephen was looking forward to meeting him. Never mind another time. Well because Tara is a flight attendant for B.A., she can sneak him on a flight I think? Well if not then she can get him onboard DEAD cheaply. I'm hoping she c an get my mum an upgrade, then again if she does that my mother will never get off the plane, she'll drink it dry.....
Actually you know what? considering that I am having a baby, I don't exactly hear much from my folks, OR my girls in Manchester. Yes I know they all have their own lives, but come on, I'm all nervous, I need to talk to people, especially from home right now. I dunno I just thought my mum would call more, you k now every few days or something, but I always call her. Whatever, I'l call her after my doctor's appointment this morning.
Oh that's what I meant to tell you, there's a lovely whacky woman that lives in the building called Clare. She is responsible for all the stuff that nobody else wants in the building, so a couple of the large rooms downstairs are totally dedicated to other people's crap that has been donated, so once a year she holds a huge warehouse kind of sale thing and gets rid of lots of it. Now because I'm pregnant she very kindly offered to show me some b aby stuff, including a crib. So yesterday she got hold of me and took me downstairs. Now unfortunately the crib is a total throw-back from the 60's so it's not really in that good nick and also I have no idea if it would even pass a safety inspection, so I told her that a friend of Stephen's was actually giving her there's blah blah and smiled a lot. The funniest part of this little rendezvous was her telling me all these stories about her sudden interest in dating again (she's 61) and how she was having sex with her car mechanic for a while, but not anymore, but that while it happened it was a lot of fun, especially as she kept turning up at his auto store dressed up either like marilyn monroe or in some fluffy gear where she would do a burlesque number on him..... After politely asking the other mechanics to leave.
It was hysterical listening to her and you know what, it was so refreshing. Ok honestly I was a little worried at first, as she was talking at such a speed and with such enthusiasm, that I really got the impression she may not have actually spoken to ANYBODY else for days. Now this may be so, especially in this building, there's a lot of lonely people here, but she's fun, totally mad, but a really good laugh, so of the short time we had together, she made me giggle. I hope she finds somebody, she's a good looking woman, I bet she was absolutely beautiful when she was younger. Anyway that was fun, I didn't get anything for t he baby, well it was all old stuff and even the baby clothes were a bit dubious, listen I'm not putting him in anything that's been sat downstairs in a sweaty basement for god knows how long. I did grab a cuddly toy dog, much to Stephen's annoyance...aw bah humbug to him, he's cute, I'll put him in the wash, then him and Darby (our other HUGE toy dog) can hang out.
Ok everybody I gotta get ready for my doctors, have a wonderful weekend. My great pal Tim leaves on Sunday for t he Sudan, I'm sad that he's leaving, but he's very excited, so I'm happy for him, but yes terribly worried as well. I wish he didn't have such a pretty face though, it makes him stand out in a crowd you know? maybe I'll smack him around a bit before he leaves.....hee hee
