So above is my little angel bits dressed up as Amy Winehouse for Halloween. I personally thing we did a friggin brilliant job of it. We were determined even though a few of our friends thought it was cruel to put a heavy wig on her, but you know what it wasn't heavy and we bribed her with candy all day to keep it on....little love.
The response we got in and around the West Village was fantastic, tourists actually stopped us and asked if they could take her picture. I know that there's at least 30 italian tourists who have a pic of my little Reef on their fridge right now. It was fun, we had a great day, here she is with her entourage, Esme and Delilah, they've all known each other since they were babies, so it's cute to see them now, all grown up (well not quite but you know what i mean)....
Ok so I DO have a good reason for not doing spraggworld for over a month....i've been sick, like a dog for 3 weeks. Basically my good friends Francesca and Stephen threw a FANTASTIC engagement party the weekend after Halloween at their ENORMOUS Tribeca loft, loads of people came, it was a great, fun night...two days after that I got struck with the flu....NO not the Swine Flue, just the regular run of the mill flu, jesus it hit me hard, the first day Stephen got reef up ready and to school, then the next two days Susi took over from him as he had to work. I literally could not of done it without their help and the huge amount of love and care from Stephen, he was as solid as they come, cos I was one hell of a mess, god I was sick, couldn't get out of bed for the first 3 days, it was pathetic, couldn't eat (ain't so bad, lost a bit of weight in the process) and the worst was just couldn't hang out or play with Reef which was awful and she of course was really hurt by it., but Stephen talked to her about it.
Then after 5 or so days Stephen got sick, followed by Reef. Now as you know when Reef gets sick, the alarm bells go off, from her past bouts of getting sick followed by a stay in our local shitty hospital, so we were on full alert. We literally put our own ailments to one side and just tended to Reef. Which basically meant the 3 of us spent 24/7 with each other watching 5 hours of fucking Dora the Explorer each day. Let me tell you old veterans out there, that's as bad as Chinese Water Torture...it is, honest it really is. We kept her calm, no play dates, no park, lots of liquid and tons of love and she got through it...my little trouper.
Anyway, Stephen and Reef recovered pretty fast, whereas for some reason, even though i was pill popping, hot tea and hot toddy drinking, you name it I swallowed it, I stayed ill for a full 3 weeks, couldn't shift it...totally pissed me off. Now I am fine, started back at the gym this week which was tricky, 3 weeks away and you feel it once you start again.
So what else? well Reef had her flu shot today, yeah I know right, bit stupid seeing as she's just had it, but I think it's for the best.
So myself and Stephen have decided that May 29th 2010 is our wedding date....now fingers crossed that it actually happens, because regardless of how low key you do a wedding, it always ends up bloody expensive and right now we don't have a lot of cash. Also we are gone for most of February, so we'll see how our funds are when we get back and then we can confirm to our folks/friends abroad that want to travel over EXACTLY when we can do it.
Although on a good bit of news we have got one of Stephen's old friends to marry us...he's an ordained minister so he's allowed. He's also gorgeous, black and gay...how fab is that, being married by a gay man is my dream people. He's an ex STOMP guy and also travels with Hall and Oates on a regular basis playing back up for them...cool huh.
SO Stephen had his third interview this year, the last one the other week. The first one was for that online wine guy, where he'd gotten Stephen to do the image for the label of his wine...(apparently his wine is selling really well, good f or him). The second was for Manhattan Magazine with nice pic of Stephen and great interview calling Stephen "the best independent artist in the city"....nice huh. So the last one was for a european documentary (also to be possibly shown on PBS here) about the Westbeth Building and the artists that live in it. ABOUT 12 were chosen from different backgrounds and included was Stephen. So they came round one afternoon, set up all their lighting equipment which meant moving most of my furniture (hey it's fine boys) whereby our neighbor and darling friend George interviewed Stephen. So after that was complete George thought it would be a good idea to have a family scene including myself and Reef because not many of the people that still live and are alive in this building have small children. So we were summoned which was kind of freaky for me as I hardly had any makeup on, still ill, so snot everywhere, striped t-shirt (not good for camera) and bad hair (again not good for camera), so once I adjusted my hair, got rid of top George set off asking me all kinds of questions. Not sure how I sounded, George said good but I'm sure I sounded and looked like an idiot. Being in front of a camera (believe it or not) is not my thing, not one bit, I get very nervous, fidget like a fucking crazed bitch on crack.
So hopefully that will be picked up shown (at least) in Europe and fingers crossed over here....god how exciting.
Stephen as usual is painting like a demon, he's really on form right now, gone in a slightly different direction and they are FANTASTIC. Just wish we could get a few more clients, that would be nice...
So that's it, oh yes I did run into an old pal of my Nicole over at Dublin 6 one afternoon, so after a few hours I sneaked out and met her and her friends for a drink. That was a lot of fun, had a really good fun hour or so before I had to head home....still coughing and spluttering.
So December is upon us, god it comes around quickly. I have most of Reef's gifts which is approximately 4 as she will get another 6 from friends and I think that is more than enough for a 3 year old, don't you.....
A quiet Christmas for us, everyone else is doing their own thing, so it's just the three of us. This is the time when I wish for my family to be here. I love a big family Christmas, as at home was always fantastic back in the day, great food and then all my friends would come over and we would play charades and see how quickly we could beat my dad who was always a sore but fun loser.
Right then well I'm glad I at least did this page before the end of the bloody year, thanks everyone for being so patient, guess i should email those of you that i know to let you know about this page. Will try again next week.....
